Implications of divorce

If a member divorces, a court order may mean that a proportion of their pension lump sum and additional voluntary contribuations has to be paid to the former spouse.

This also applies to any death benefit, should the member die before reaching retirement age. The court order would overrule any death benefit nomination the member had made.

The Pensions and divorce guide available on the Scheme Guides and forms page contains more information.

If you want a cash equivalent transfer value for a divorce settlement please contact the JSS Pensioners office.
