The effect of Coronavirus on JSS

Disruption to Service

Like many other organisations JSS are following the Government's advice to work from home where possible. Unfortunately this does impact on the service we provide and some things are taking longer than usual to be dealt with.

Our priority is to ensure pensions continue to be paid and pensions due to come in to pay are set up on time.

Please bear with us during this time, we apologise for this disruption and re-assure you that we are working hard to try and provide as seamless a service as possible.

Where possible all requests should be sent to us by email, either using:

for active member queries

or

for pensioner related queries.

Alternatively you can contact us in writing at: JSS, Polaris House, North Star Avenue, Swindon, SN2 1UY or call us using the phone numbers on our contact page.

Pensions in Payment

We have processed the 2020 pension increase, which is 1.7% effective from 6 April 2020.

Letters were sent out during April to all pensioner and preserved members to notify them of the increases. Payslips were also sent out in March, April and May.

We are aware of some postal delays with Royal Mail. If you have not received your pension increase letter please email us at to request a copy.

If you have a query regarding the payment of your pension or need a copy of your payslip please contact the UKSBS Payroll Team on 01793 867000 and select option 3.

If you have a tax query regarding your pension please call the HMRC tax office on 0300 200 3300.

Fraud and Scams

Unfortunately the coronavirus has created the perfect conditions for pension scammers to operate by exploiting peoples uncertainty over pensions.

If you receive an unsolicited call from someone asking about your pension that you didn’t expect or ask for, please protect yourself by not providing any information and hang up the phone.

If you think you are being targeted by a fraudster please contact JSS to report it. You can also report fraud to Action Fraud - external link.

There is more information on our Pensions scams and fraud page.

JSS have created a COVID-19 Fraud Awareness (PDF, 202KB) poster to help with information about scams and fraud during the pandemic.

Subject Access Requests and FOI

Please be aware that when making a Subject Access Request or Freedom of Information Request there will be delays in responding.

This will not affect your rights and we will respond to your request as soon possible. We are monitoring the situation on the Information Commissioners guidance.

The how we manage your information page provides more details about how JSS manages your personal data.

If there are any changes we will update our website when necessary.
